heading south

 First stop:

"Walhalla" (close to Regensburg) - yes it's in the south of germany ;)

a prayer to Walhalla for next miles ...

next: Vienna is calling

Ahhhh, the good old times. Architecture of 1963 ;)

"Where is the Kid!!!" ... "maybe jumped over the fence."
Damn, we have to make a new one again ...

come ... and get a life under the bridge.

The Austrian A Body Guys knows what good taste is!
Thanks for the impressive inhouse tour at your new flat.

And the neighbourhood got taste too  ;)

At least, the most traditional photo spot in vienna (thanks Marvin!)

I found a campground (+Hotel) named "Belvedere" in Slovenia close to Trieste in Italy.

Of course this is a target;)

The cave system of Postojna is beside the road and I have to check out how it is look like there.

They named it the largest touristic cave system. It is 24 km long, but you can see for the normal guided tour, "only" 5 km. 3,7 by train and 1,5 km by a little hike. Difficult to make good pictures but they show how impressive it is.

Hmm. Why is this area smelling shitty like burned grease with a taste of chemical ingredients?
Damn, my battery is close to explode! Lets cool it down, luckely the campground is around the next corner.

What a "pleasure", first time at the adriatic sea and I have to go 17 km by bicycle to get a new battery. (Can I call it an E-Bike now?)

Im prepared, got a new voltage regulator and an old alternator in my "trunk". Looks like it works!

The campground wasn't good as aspected, lets move.

La cartone é arrivato in italia!

Coming down to the old harbor of Trieste with horribele noise out of the enginebay. The bearings of the exchange alternator are totally dry and damaged. Shit! That to do... relieve tension on the belt and oiling the alternator shaft. Okay, the noise is going a bit down. Give it a try ;)

Entrance to the castle of Miramare

Translation to german : Wechselbalg ;) (maybe)

Off I go, heading up the narrow streets of Trieste. There’s a Fiat Uno in front of me, and I’m right on its bumper, keeping my speed up because it’s so steep. Once we reach the top, he immediately pulls over to let me pass. I think he was starting to sweat a little.
A nice spot for pictures. An english guy came across and asks "can I do a picture?"
He told me his car is around the corner. I thougth I do a cool trip in an old car ...

... but this guy drives a 1940 Ford and sleeps in a "Wooden-Sauna-Trailer".
He is on its way to ISTANBUL!!!  Oh boy, I love the english culture!
AMAZING!

Michael from Austria told me there is a big cave close to Trieste, its nice to have a look!
WOW!
The second largest cave in the world! It is a hall of hundred meters height and I think it is placed only 15 meter under the earths surface to enter inside! Totally impressive and unreal!
The two tubes in the center, are the worldwide tallest mesure instrument for movement of the tectonic plates. It mesure slow movements we can't feel (like the tide-movements by the moon-phases).

Rivananzo Dragway was planned as the next stop, but since the alternator started getting really loud again, I decided to head home instead and stop at Lake Garda.

One of my personal - must do things - here at Lake Garda, is to do a short MTB hike

Happy to find I’m still fit enough for the mountains, I treat myself to lunch at a lovely little restaurant in the village Pregasina, with a great view, of course. Why they didn't named it "Belvedere"??? ;)

The reason why I got a spot without a reservation, is a music Festival, 300 meters away.
(Horrible they destroyed every classic track (the Who, AC/DC...) with techno beats)

A final fuel stop in Austria revealed that the battery was almost completely empty!

Second time at this place, two years ago I've beeing here with my Dodge A100!

First at South Mopar Meet in 2026 ;)

And I stopped at the village of Saskia and Chris. Planned was only to drink a coffee but now they offert me a guest bed and a reloaded Battery. I also changed again the alternator back, to see it works like this.

The dogs are ready to go to work with Saskia!

Everything was fine now and the battery fully reloaded on my way back home.

The trip lasted only a week but much more expensive as expected (campgrounds, Maut ...).

Technical problems are part of the game, but the car is the perfect travel cruiser!
(better brakes will be nice for the alps ;) )

In the end, the speedometer says 2000 Miles ! (Remembering the british guy with his 1940 Ford: my trip was only a short one)
